Salons, barber shops, massage therapists and spas may reopen on Wednesday, May 6, as Arkansas continues its phased-in removal of restrictions on certain business activities during the coronavirus pandemic.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson specified a number of guidelines for reopening: There can be no more than 10 people at a time in the salon, no walk-in appointments will be taken, clients must be kept at least six feet apart, and staff must wear face coverings and gloves. Other restrictions also apply.

Earlier this week, Hutchinson announced restaurants could restart dine-in service on May 11 and gyms and fitness centers could reopen on May 4. Each business would have a series of safety and cleaning restrictions, as well.

As of Friday, Arkansas has 3,321 confirmed positive cases of the coronavirus with 64 known deaths.
